About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Intravenous Access Specialist Nurse to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients and staff, ensuring the safe and effective management of intravenous access devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the intravenous access service, ensuring compliance with national standards and policies.
  • Develop and implement education and training programs for healthcare staff on intravenous access best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery and patient safety.
  • Conduct audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to junior staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices in intravenous access, applying this knowledge to improve patient care and service delivery.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Registered General Nurse with current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
  • Teaching and mentorship qualification.
  • Substantial experience in managing intravenous access issues and working across professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to an evolving and changing service.
  • Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely.
