About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and high-performing RF Hardware Engineer to join our successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area at Raytheon UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing RF hardware for GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Systems, working closely with our technical team to create innovative solutions for the military market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF hardware for GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Systems
  • Collaborate with the APNT RF Hardware Engineering Section Lead to integrate designs into product solutions
  • Support engineering solutions, overseeing the integration of contributions from all other engineering disciplines
  • Develop requirements for new products and design for high volume techniques
  • Design and implement RF test solutions
  • Work within the product hardware team and collaborate with all other engineering disciplines throughout the design cycle
  • Produce design documentation and reports for project artefacts and deliverables
  • Interface with suppliers and industry experts
  • Solve complex technical problems on new and existing GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Products
  • Support and mentor junior engineers through their activities
Requirements
  • Minimum of Degree in related subject, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Proven experience in a product design and development role, within an Electronics Product Environment
  • In-depth experience in design and layout of RF and analogue micro circuitry and micro integration into products for harsh environments and hostile EM conditions
  • Design experience in Receiver technologies in the 1-2 GHz band with an emphasis on GPS/GNSS signal
  • Design experience of down conversion and up conversion techniques and processing methods
  • Good knowledge of product design and problem solving within a design for manufacture environment
  • Familiarity with Microwave simulators (Cadence preferred), PCB layout and Mechanical modelling tools
  • Experience in full system design lifecycle and ability to take an overall systems view
  • Good team player who is willing to take ownership of problems and actively engages in IPT and group activities
  • Fully understand circuit operation, debug, diagnose and implement fixes
  • Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills, willing to take ownership as well as positively contributing within cross-disciplined teams
  • Able to prioritise and manage their tasks to ensure all are completed to time and schedule
  • Develop hardware concepts efficiently from limited or vague customer requirements and communicate potential solutions
  • Experience in interpretation of customer specs and end use environments
  • Good communication skills. Ability to tailor communications to level and audience at all levels
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer interfacing skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe and the US
  • Understands the principles of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of interpretation of customer specs and end use environments
  • Experience in design for manufacture for high volume product
  • Analytical engineer who can process data efficiently to provide solutions to problems and communicate the outcomes at all levels
  • Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high-speed D/A /A/D conversion
  • Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; DX Designer, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser or equivalents would be advantageous
  • Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation (MATLAB, LT Spice)) and thermal analysis
  • Product Quality Testing and Certification
  • Experience of working with Industry standard toolsets for requirement capture, design and task management (e.g., DOORs, Microsoft Project)
