Job Description

Job Title: Senior RF Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior RF Systems Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing RF systems for challenging environments and high-volume production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing requirements for new RF systems
  • Designing and developing RF hardware and software solutions
  • Implementing RF test solutions
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and develop RF systems
  • Producing design documentation and reports for project artefacts and deliverables
  • Working with customers and product design authorities to develop and shape technical requirements
  • Interface with suppliers and industry experts
  • Solving complex technical problems on new and existing RF systems
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a degree in a related subject, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Proven experience in a product design and development role, within an Electronics Product Environment
  • Experience in design and layout of RF and analogue micro circuitry and micro integration into products for harsh environments and hostile EM conditions
  • Design experience in Receiver technologies in the 1-2 GHz band with an emphasis on GPS/GNSS signal
  • Design experience of downconversion and upconversion techniques and processing methods
  • Good knowledge of product design and problem-solving within a design for manufacture environment
  • Familiarity with Microwavesimulators (Cadence preferred), PCB layout and Mechanical modelling tools
  • Experience in full system design lifecycle and ability to take an overall systems view
  • Good team player who is willing to take ownership of problems and actively engages in IPT and group activities
  • Fully understand circuit operation, debug, diagnose and implement fixes
  • Demonstrable problem-solving and analytical skills, willing to take ownership as well as positively contributing within cross-disciplined teams
  • Able to prioritise and manage their tasks to ensure all are completed to time and schedule
  • Develop hardware concepts efficiently from limited or vague customer requirements and communicate potential solutions
  • Experience in interpretation of customer specs and end-use environments
  • Good communication skills. Ability to tailor communications to level and audience at all levels
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer interfacing skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe and the US
  • Understands the principles of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience of interpretation of customer specs and end-use environments
  • Experience in design for manufacture for high-volume product
  • Analytical engineer who can process data efficiently to provide solutions to problems and communicate the outcomes at all levels
  • Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high-speed D/A / A/D conversion
  • Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; DX Designer, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser or equivalents would be advantageous
  • Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation (MATLAB, LT Spice) and thermal analysis
  • Product Quality Testing and Certification
  • Experience of working with Industry standard toolsets for requirement capture, design and task management (e.g., DOORs, Microsoft Project)
