Nighttime Youth Care Specialist

Streatham, Greater London, United Kingdom Peabody Full time

As a Nighttime Youth Care Specialist, your shifts will be dynamic and require a balance of direct support for young residents, administrative responsibilities, and collaboration with external organizations.

Your role will involve conducting regular welfare assessments for the young individuals in your care, while adhering to their support plans and safety evaluations that necessitate continuous updates.

You will also be tasked with inspecting the living conditions of our residents to identify any required repairs or potential safety concerns that need to be addressed.

Safeguarding issues may arise that you will need to tackle to ensure the protection of our residents from harm, abuse, or neglect.

In addition, you will offer practical assistance to residents with their benefit applications and help coordinate group or individual activities.

Your objective as a Nighttime Youth Care Specialist is to guide our young residents towards securing a spot on the housing register or locating suitable rental accommodations.

You will oversee a group of young individuals with complex needs, providing the practical and emotional support essential for them to regain their independence.

Given the intricacies of their needs, establishing consistent and trusting relationships is vital to ensure they feel secure and supported.

This position requires empathy, strong listening abilities, a non-judgmental approach, and the capability to identify and address potential issues. You must be adept at working independently, managing, and de-escalating challenging situations.

Qualifications we seek:

  • Experience working with teenagers aged 16-17 years.
  • Proven experience in managing challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge or experience in safeguarding and trauma-informed practices.

If you meet these criteria, this role may be an excellent fit for you.

At Peabody, we have multiple openings for a Nighttime Youth Care Specialist on a permanent basis.

This position will necessitate an Enhanced DBS check and subscription to the update service, with reimbursement for this fee provided annually.
