Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Educational Psychologist to join our team in Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. As an Assistant Educational Psychologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting learners with additional learning needs, working within the framework of the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018 (ALNET Act).
About the Role
You will work closely with educational psychologists to develop and implement tailored intervention strategies, creating accessible resources for parents, carers, and schools. Your role will involve delivering training and workshops to build capacity in educators and families, as well as organizing and coordinating community events that promote neurodiversity and raise awareness of the needs-led approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of interventions
- Advocate for the needs of learners with additional learning needs
- Work closely with other professionals to implement person-centred approaches in schools
- Develop and implement tailored intervention strategies
- Deliver training and workshops to build capacity in educators and families
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need strong organizational and communication skills, as well as experience working with learners in educational or clinical settings. Familiarity with neurodevelopmental disorders, inclusive education practices, and the ALNET Act is essential. You will be expected to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in your interactions with learners and their families, while also working collaboratively with colleagues from across health and education sectors.
