Lead Legal Advisor - Insurance Sector - Temporary Engagement

Type: Temporary Engagement (Maternity Leave Replacement)

Location: Flexible

Compensation: Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus + Additional Benefits

Work Arrangement: Hybrid Model (2 days per week in-office)

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Legal Director

Team Structure: 2 Direct Reports

About the Position:

This is a temporary engagement to cover maternity leave within a prominent Insurance Brokerage. You will be part of a compact legal team, providing essential legal guidance and support to mitigate legal risks across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive legal counsel to effectively manage legal risks throughout the organization.
  • Stay informed on current laws, regulations, and practices relevant to the business across all operational jurisdictions.
  • Draft, assess, and negotiate a variety of commercial legal documents on behalf of the organization, including templates, contracts, non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, service agreements, recruitment agency contracts, software as a service agreements, IT contracts, outsourcing agreements, general terms and conditions, data protection agreements, intellectual property matters, and commercial due diligence.
  • Monitor and implement changes in legislation and regulations in collaboration with the Compliance team.
  • Identify and manage all aspects of legal risk associated with new projects, systems, and procedures.
  • Adhere to all external regulations and requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor in the UK or equivalent legal qualification.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably within the insurance sector.
  • Experience in brokerage is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in the UK.
  • Proven skills in project and transaction management.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and a proactive approach to adding value in an in-house legal setting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work.
