We are seeking a freelance Community Engagement Specialist to oversee our weekly educational youth club program. This initiative is delivered in collaboration with our partner organization, International Care Network (ICN), and involves conducting sessions on a weekly basis.


The specialist will be tasked with the planning, execution, and facilitation of educational and cultural activities tailored for separated youth aged 16-21 years.


Support during the sessions will be provided by our dedicated youth support worker, alongside an ICN support worker and a representative from the local authority.


This role presents a remarkable opportunity to positively impact the lives and futures of young refugees arriving in the UK.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and develop educational activities/classes for the weekly sessions in line with our established framework.
  • Facilitate and deliver the weekly sessions with the assistance of our youth support worker and the ICN support worker.
  • Occasionally recruit external facilitators (volunteers) to conduct specialized sessions.
  • Ensure that sessions are driven by the interests of the young people, allowing them to contribute feedback for future sessions.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to participants, while referring individuals to their case worker for one-on-one assistance as needed.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding for all attendees, in accordance with The Separated Child Foundation's safeguarding policies.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager to assess the relevance and appropriateness of the sessions, suggesting improvements to the framework as necessary.
  • Collect feedback from participants (anonymized where appropriate) to support funding applications and program management reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication with the line manager regarding session feedback and future planning during scheduled catch-up calls.
