Position Overview

Role: Team Leader in Residential Care

Organization: Brook Street Social Care

Salary: £37,336 - £40,221 basic (including weekend enhancements, sleep-in duties, secure unit allowance, and a retention payment of £3000 per annum)

Key Responsibilities

As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in the daily management and leadership of a residential unit dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for children and young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading the operational management of the unit in compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
  2. Engaging actively with children and young people to assess their needs and promote positive behavioral and attitudinal changes through constructive interactions.
  3. Fostering a culture of continuous professional development among the staff team, ensuring a trauma-informed approach is maintained.
  4. Overseeing the delivery of high-quality care services, including risk assessments and intervention programs tailored to the emotional and developmental needs of the children.
  5. Acting as the Duty Manager, providing senior support and guidance to staff on a rotational basis.
  6. Creating a nurturing environment that supports the assessment, care, education, and health of children and young people, focusing on their emotional and physical well-being.
  7. Ensuring that the staff team organizes and participates in enriching activities that promote recreational and vocational development.
Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
  • A willingness to pursue a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services if not already held.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of National Minimum Care Standards and Local Authority policies.
  • Understanding of child protection procedures and the implications of abuse.
  • Experience in managing diverse teams and promoting equal opportunities.
