We are in search of a seasoned news producer with a proven ability in compelling video storytelling to enhance our worldwide daily video output, based in London. In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with the video production team and engage with AP's global staff across different formats to create captivating journalism that resonates with our audience and contributes to the growth of AP's viewership.

Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the production lead, you will play a vital role in crafting our digital video content utilized by AP clients who depend on us for comprehensive coverage of global stories. Your creative editing skills will be essential in developing impactful visual narratives tailored for a digital audience. You will exercise sound news judgment in editorial decisions and swiftly compose relevant storylines and shot lists with precision. The role demands editing breaking news videos from live feeds under tight deadlines. Additionally, proficiency in leveraging social media as a tool for news gathering is required, with familiarity in visual verification techniques considered advantageous. Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends is necessary, as AP operates around the clock.

We seek candidates who:

  • Exhibit a strong passion for global news, showcasing excellent news judgment and innovative storytelling abilities that captivate digital audiences. You can articulate and promote stories that engage users on social media and other platforms.
  • Excel in high-pressure news environments, consistently delivering results within deadlines.
  • Possess exceptional writing skills in English, capable of crafting clear and concise narratives that complement visual content.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of journalists at AP who operate across various formats: text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive, and graphics.
  • Pursue creative and inclusive coverage methods while upholding AP's standards for integrity and impartiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced production and technical editing expertise with Adobe Premiere or similar software; familiarity with Adobe After Effects is a plus.
  • Strong organizational capabilities, adept at managing multiple projects across formats and successfully navigating complex storylines.
  • Experience collaborating with developers, external clients, and partners is beneficial.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, such as a minimum of three years in a full-time role at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or within an AP bureau or regional desk.
  • Authorization to work is mandatory.
  • Advanced-level professional proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in an additional language is advantageous.
  • Advanced-level professional competency in non-linear video editing is essential.
