Our Substance Misuse Service is in search of a proactive and skilled Recovery Specialist. Our team is innovative, forward-thinking, and dedicated to a recovery-oriented approach that caters to the diverse needs of individuals. You will be part of a nurturing team with strong management, supervision, and support.

Engaging with individuals who have complex backgrounds and substance use challenges within a correctional setting is both demanding and fulfilling. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to positively influence the lives of those who are often marginalized and vulnerable.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team in a correctional environment, providing a high-quality drug and alcohol recovery service tailored to the needs of service users as part of our organizational framework.

Your role will involve delivering a variety of psycho-social interventions that inspire and assist service users in achieving recovery and positive outcomes within a recovery-focused substance misuse treatment program.

You will work in partnership with clinical prescribing services to ensure that the needs of each service user are addressed, emphasizing integrated working as a fundamental aspect of our prison services.

You will offer a comprehensive drug and alcohol recovery service, which includes assessment, recovery planning, case management, and psycho-social interventions for individuals facing substance use challenges within the correctional facility.

You will contribute to the prison's broader drug strategy and collaborate with various stakeholders.

As part of the team, you will provide diverse and comprehensive interventions aligned with the stepped care model. Collaborating with key agencies to ensure service users receive support throughout their individual recovery journeys. Delivering the substance misuse and wellbeing components of the integrated offender team. Facilitating group sessions.

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or a commitment to pursue this) or relevant experience in similar settings.

Desirable

Relevant training or qualifications in associated fields such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Mapping Techniques, or Auricular Acupuncture.

Experience

Essential

Previous experience in integrated working practices or with individuals facing substance use challenges.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Essential

Comprehensive knowledge of substances and their effects. Understanding of harm reduction strategies related to substance misuse. Ability to conduct assessments and develop recovery plans. Proficiency in maintaining records and statistical data. Capacity to collaborate with other professionals and establish connections with agencies both within and outside the correctional environment.

Desirable

Familiarity with the criminal justice sector. Ability and commitment to facilitate psycho-social group work programs.
