Job Title: Communication Support Worker

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Communication Support Worker to join our Disability Services team at Bradford College. As a key member of our team, you will provide communication support and note-taking services to our Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive difference in the lives of our learners. You will work closely with our Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, providing communication support and note-taking services to ensure their full participation in their educational programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide communication support, interpreting, lip speaking, and note-taking services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
  • Follow professional guidance provided through Education Health and Care (EHC) Plans and Learning Support Agreements.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback on learner progress and deaf awareness issues to teaching and Disability Services staff.
  • Assist with the modification of written English.
  • Encourage the development of individual Deaf learners within educational, social, linguistic, and cultural contexts.
  • Provide empowering support through a range of appropriate strategies.
  • Liaise with other members of staff within established working practices.
Requirements
  • Signature BSL Level 3 (Essential) or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE 4-9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
