Electronics Engineer Role at Universal Quantum

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team at Universal Quantum. As a key member of our electronics team, you will play a crucial role in enabling the development of quantum technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the testing of integrated circuits (ICs) and/or subsystems as a primary duty.
  • Design, build, and test electronics solutions using your skills in analogue and digital circuit design, along with industry-standard CAD packages and test equipment.
  • Write the documentation of your electronics test circuits.
  • Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
  • Maintain multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists, working towards a common goal.
  • Play a key role in building test systems for quantum computers.
  • Maintain Universal Quantum's position in using state-of-the-art electronics solutions.
  • Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
  • Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements.
  • Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of electronics circuit/IC theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge from a testing point of view.
  • PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge, and excellent verification/debugging skills using electronics test equipment.
  • Strong knowledge within the IC domain and integration within other electronics assemblies.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in high-performance Electronics Design, including IC, Digital, Analog, and Embedded.
  • Experience in PCB Design using ECAD (e.g., Altium Designer).
  • Experience in FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real-time systems.
  • Experience in working with suppliers and contractors.
  • 1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A background in RF engineering, Research, Metrology, or instrumentation.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital, and EMC.
  • Experience with C and/or scripting languages (e.g., Python and Matlab).
  • Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
  • Team and/or project management experience.
