Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sales Ledger Clerk/Credit Controller to join our client's Accounts Team on a maternity contract for 12 months. This is a hands-on role with plenty of interaction with other team members and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the sales ledgers, processing sales invoices and credit notes promptly and accurately.
  • Monitor and chase outstanding invoices and ensure timely payments from customers.
  • Allocate and post customer receipts to relevant invoices.
  • Investigate chargebacks and underpayments with card processing companies.
  • Post and reconcile card receipts and e-commerce receipts daily from bank statements to the relevant accounts.
  • Close all sales ledgers to the new accounting period at the end of each month.
  • Month-end reporting, allocation, and reconciliation.
  • Generate and issue customer statements.
  • Assist with filing and banking cheques.
  • Provide assistance with ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • A team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and high levels of accuracy.
  • A disciplined and structured approach to work.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel) and knowledge of retail or manufacturing software.
  • Experience of working within an owner-managed business is an advantage.

  • Competitive salary: £24,000 - £27,500 per annum (depending on experience).
