Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Central Northampton

Salary: £24,000 to £28,000 - Dependent on Experience

Type: Permanent - Fully Office Based

Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday - 9am to 5:30pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process a large volume of invoices and manage company credit cards.
  • Ensure timely invoice processing and follow up with staff when goods are not booked in.
  • Handle various recharge accounts and conduct payment runs in multiple currencies.
  • Verify supplier banking details, set up new suppliers, and raise purchase orders.
  • Understand purchase coding and handle accruals and depreciation for invoices.
  • Manage the sales ledger, including collecting debts and handling credit assessments.
  • Process invoices, prepare statements, and negotiate payment plans with slow-paying customers.
  • Monitor bank transactions, post receipts and payments, and allocate customer payments correctly.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits and bank relations.

Key Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally someone with an understanding of the Purchase Ledger process
  • If you are working towards your level 2/3 AAT that would be beneficial
  • Any experience with Sage systems is advantageous but not essential
