Assistant Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join our West Norfolk Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) based in Kings Lynn. This is an exciting opportunity for a Psychology Graduate to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and in various settings, including day services, residential services, supported living, and in people's own homes. This role will enable you to gain varied experience with presentations such as behaviour that challenges, anxiety, depression, dementia, bereavement, and other mental health conditions.
Main Responsibilities- Undertake assigned activities under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist
- Work jointly with other professionals
- Use a multi-disciplinary and research-led approach
- Contribute to the work of the Community Learning Disabilities Team
The Community Learning Disabilities Service has 5 integrated health and social care teams throughout Norfolk who support adults with learning disabilities. We are an organisation that has been awarded an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the highest possible rating and the first stand-alone NHS community trust in the country to be awarded the title.
Key Requirements- Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments, applying psychological, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members, and others involved in the clients' care, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
- Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
- Plan and prioritise their own workload, with the overall supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
- Be required to travel between a range of appointment venues in both rural and urban locations.
The post demands periods of concentrated effort, both mental and physical (report writing, assessment sessions). You will be required to have a full and valid driving license and have access to a vehicle, or be able to travel independently.
Person Specification- Honours degree in psychology - 2:1 or above
- Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Other related academic qualifications
- Experience of working with vulnerable clients
- Relevant paid or voluntary work
- High-level communication skills using the English language, both written and verbal, including an ability to communicate and work in settings where the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
- Knowledge of National strategies relating to Learning Disabilities
- Skills in communication, teaching, research, methodology, psychological models, advanced IT
- Knowledge of client group
- Experience using computers for databases or data analysis, especially SPSS for Windows.
