Job Summary
GE Aviation's Power Conversion business is seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Technical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support at MW-scale for Industrial and Marine Power Systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to customers and local engineering teams for current and legacy platforms, including resolving issues through modifications to software and hardware.
- Commissioning Support: Support Power Systems commissioning activities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Issue Resolution: Take ownership of technical issues and drive them to conclusion, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Application Support: Provide Power Systems application support and technical guidance to customers and internal teams.
- Lessons Learned: Identify and document lessons learned to feed back into design standards and improve product development.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure recommendations, solutions, and advice are technically compliant and safe.
- Business Development: Collaborate with sales teams to advise on technical aspects of bids for upgrades or new systems.
- Process Improvement: Drive improvements in products, processes, and procedures to enhance overall efficiency.
Requirements
- Education: Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Holistic knowledge of Power Systems (HV & LV), including alternators, grounding systems, switchboards, protection relays, AVRs, transformers, power electronic converters, etc.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills, with a strong customer service orientation and proactive problem-solving abilities.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for short-term working, with a valid UK/EU passport.
- Security Clearance: Possession of or ability to obtain BPSS security clearance.
