Job Summary

GE Aviation's Power Conversion business is seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Technical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our technical support team, you will provide expert technical support for Industrial and Marine Power Systems at MW-scale.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support: Provide technical support to customers and local engineering teams for current and legacy platforms, including resolving issues through modifications to software and hardware.
  2. Commissioning Support: Support Power Systems commissioning activities to ensure smooth and efficient system operation.
  3. Issue Resolution: Take ownership of technical issues and drive them to conclusion, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  4. Application Support: Provide technical guidance and support to customers and internal teams on Power Systems applications.
  5. Lessons Learned: Identify and document lessons learned to feed back into design standards and improve product development.
  6. Technical Compliance: Ensure all recommendations, solutions, and advice are technically compliant and safe.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with sales teams to advise on technical aspects of bids for upgrades or new systems.
  8. Process Improvement: Drive improvements in products, processes, and procedures to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  1. Education: Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
  2. Technical Knowledge: Holistic knowledge of Power Systems (HV & LV), including alternators, grounding systems, switchboards, protection relays, AVRs, transformers, power electronic converters, etc.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  4. Customer Service: Excellent customer service orientation and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  5. Travel: Willing to travel within the UK and overseas for short-term working.
  6. Security Clearance: Possession of or ability to obtain BPSS security clearance.
