Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at GE Power Conversion, providing technical support for Variable Speed Drives Systems. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with variable frequency drives, good understanding of programming PLCs, and previous hands-on experience of troubleshooting or commissioning industrial electrical drives systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaising with customers and field service engineers to resolve customers' issues.
  • Identifying and/or implementing modifications to software and hardware.
  • Analysing diagnostic files.
  • Collaborating with fellow team members and the engineering/development teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Advising to our sales and quotations teams on the technical aspects of our bids for upgrades or new systems.
  • Helping to drive improvements in products, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
  • Extensive experience with variable frequency drives.
  • Good understanding of programming PLCs (ladder diagrams, functional block diagrams, structured text).
  • Previous hands-on experience of troubleshooting or commissioning industrial electrical drives systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and serial links, e.g. Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet etc.
  • Unrestricted Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
  • Valid passport to meet travel requirements.
