Job Title: Lead Technical Support Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Technical Support Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our technical support team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support for our Variable Speed Drives Systems to customers in the Marine, Naval, Power, and Steel industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with customers and field service engineers to resolve technical issues and provide expert advice on software and hardware modifications.
  2. Identify and implement modifications to software and hardware to improve system performance and reliability.
  3. Analyse diagnostic files to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  4. Collaborate with fellow team members and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve product design.
  5. Provide technical guidance to sales and quotations teams on the technical aspects of bids for upgrades or new systems.
  6. Contribute to the development of technical documentation and training materials to support the technical support team.

Requirements:

  1. Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
  2. Extensive experience with variable frequency drives and industrial automation systems.
  3. Good understanding of programming PLCs (ladder diagrams, functional block diagrams, structured text).
  4. Previous hands-on experience of troubleshooting or commissioning industrial electrical drives systems.
  5. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and serial links, e.g. Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet etc.
  6. Unrestricted Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
  7. Valid passport to meet travel requirements.
