Job Summary

Power Portfolio Power Conversion is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing rotating machine systems for the marine sector.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Designing and developing rotating machine systems that meet the highest quality standards.
  • Integration of large electro-mechanical systems to meet environmental and transversal requirements.
  • Planning and executing relevant engineering activities to ensure projects attain on-time delivery, cost, and quality targets.
  • Liaison with suppliers to produce quotations and support their site activities.
  • Ensuring issued documents have been reviewed and are of the required quality.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A relevant degree in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Proven track record of designing mechanical systems in a professional engineering environment.
  • Ability to perform basic structural design and calculations, structural design specifications and mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • A solid understanding of rotor dynamics, such as: torsional and lateral vibration, shaft lines, bearings, mechanical coupling, shock absorption.
  • Excellent knowledge of thermal and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience in testing, verifying and validation of rotating equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to collaborate and work as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Some experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO or similar.
  • A basic understanding of electrical and power generation principles.
  • Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport.
  • Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
