Role Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Senior Health and Safety Advisor in ensuring adherence to all relevant Health & Safety regulations and best practices across the organization, fostering a proactive health and safety environment.

Essential Skills and Experience

Extensive knowledge and practical experience in health and safety regulations within a large, multi-location organization, demonstrating a proven track record in developing and implementing health and safety initiatives.

Experience in a health and safety role within a varied office and dynamic operational setting, focusing on the creation, execution, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and practices related to health and safety.

Proficient in conducting and coordinating comprehensive written risk assessments.

Experience in investigating incidents, including performing workplace audits and inspections.

Ability to assess training requirements and deliver health and safety training, having obtained a nationally recognized training qualification.

Skills and Competencies

Capable of swiftly analyzing and interpreting data and information, utilizing insights to identify options, make informed recommendations, and arrive at legally compliant decisions.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and clarify complex matters to diverse audiences.

Proficient in influencing stakeholders to secure necessary commitment and support.

Skilled in organizing and facilitating internal training sessions.

Competent in using various IT applications (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and specialized software).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills:

  • Ability to build strong working relationships at all organizational levels and maintain connections with key decision-makers.
  • Proficient in researching, analyzing, and drafting precise and concise reports with relevant recommendations.

Self-motivated, confident, enthusiastic, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications

Possession of or progress towards a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification.

Possession of or progress towards Chartered membership of IOSH.

Possession of Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

L&D level 3 training qualification.

Active participation in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program is required to maintain your skills, knowledge, and experience.

NEBOSH fire certificate or progress towards it.

Competency in NOISE assessment or progress towards it.

Additional Information

A valid driving license and the ability to travel to various locations as required, including potential out-of-hours travel.
