Full time, 37 hours per week. Join the leading Medical Defence Organisation, Medical Protection Society, as an Operational Finance Partner and play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and sustainability.

As the Operational Expenditure Finance Partner, you will deliver financial guidance across various sectors of the organisation. Your responsibilities will include performing financial assessments, providing insightful analysis, and equipping teams with tools that challenge traditional perspectives, thereby facilitating informed decision-making. This will enable you to contribute significantly to the MPS strategy, performance, and financial viability.

You will also be instrumental in managing costs by ensuring precise reporting and variance analysis for actuals, planning, and forecasting.

Furthermore, you will identify and communicate potential risks and opportunities, offering strategic support to leadership.

Acting as a key liaison for Group Finance, you will influence decision-making and add substantial value through financial planning and analytical activities.

As our Operational Expenditure Finance Partner, your responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with leadership teams to provide insights and challenges to business owners, assisting them in managing performance against targets.

Contributing to the comprehensive development and execution of multi-year planning and forecasting processes aligned with the MPS strategy.


Supporting the formulation and implementation of the MPS strategy, focusing on growth, cost efficiency, and quality.

Ongoing management of budgets by providing scrutiny of expenditures and variance analysis to inform leadership and the Executive Team of financial performance against plans and return on investment.


Developing forward-looking financial reports for the organisation, identifying risks and opportunities along with associated actions to mitigate or maximize them.

Partnering with the financial reporting team to deliver month-end results with high-quality insights.

Creating and utilizing systems, data, reports, and processes to enable cost transparency and a forward-looking perspective.

Leading the annual allocation driver review and conducting in-depth analysis of the cost base.

Providing education and promoting awareness within the business regarding sound financial practices.

Your analytical skills and proactive approach will be crucial in identifying and implementing cost efficiency improvement opportunities, collaborating with cross-functional teams using both financial and non-financial data to achieve impactful results.

You will also possess a strategic mindset, strong business partnering abilities, and a keen attention to detail.
Qualified finance professional with experience as a Finance Business Partner in operational expenditure management.

Experience working directly with cost centre managers to develop forecasts and budgets, analyzing month-end performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving actions to maintain costs within budget.

Experience in managing planning tools and overseeing operational expenditure forecasting and budgeting processes.

Ability to clearly articulate financial performance and practices to non-financial business partners.

While not essential, proficiency with business intelligence tools and expertise in Anaplan (MPS financial planning tool) as well as experience in a global organisation would be advantageous.
