Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Sales and other related departments to ensure production plans and production targets reflect customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing, engineering, and supplier capacity planners to ensure the availability of materials and resources necessary to meet production plans.
  • Monitor production performance and make adjustments to the production schedule as necessary to ensure on-time delivery of vehicles.
  • Allocate customer orders into vehicle 'slots' in the production schedule - ensure delivery dates are met, supply lead times respected, production constraints are not broken, and level demand where possible.
  • Analyse demand patterns and production constraints.
  • Track aged work-in-progress in the factory process against required production targets dates and communicate with production and factory planners where required.
  • Plan factory areas such as tubs, trim, and paint.
  • Ensure the correct cars are production-targeted to support sales targets and car shipping.
  • Develop and maintain production planning tools, including capacity planning models, production schedules.
  • Manage all related production control data to maintain smooth flow and promote continuous improvement.
  • Ensure planning systems are accurately maintained.
  • Liaise with the launch team for the scheduling of product development cars within the production schedule.
  • Ensure working capital/work-in-progress is optimized across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Support the creation and management of key metric dashboards for use by the business to manage throughput targets and constraints tracking.
  • Lead improvement activities and drive to improve key performance indicators.
  • Reflect learnings to new model scheduling to improve launch activity.
  • Support/lead any other related tasks to maintain or improve production scheduling and execution.

Requirements:

  • Experience in vehicle or production planning, ideally in the automotive industry (production).
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, together with the ability to work accurately and efficiently, taking resourceful action during periods of considerable pressure.
  • Understanding of sales and operations planning (S/OP) process.
  • The ability to create and use business intelligence tools such as Power BI/SSRS/Domo/Birst, including writing SQL queries.
  • Degree or higher diploma qualified or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the business.
  • Experience using an ERP system in a planning role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel or Tableau.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or STEM subject.
