Job Overview:
Apex Resource Management is on the lookout for a skilled and knowledgeable Materials Coordinator with expertise in chemical regulations, particularly REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals). The ideal candidate will be instrumental in monitoring, evaluating, and documenting chemical usage, with a special emphasis on aerospace surface treatments during the transition from chrome VI.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Acquisition:
Identify and acquire essential materials and components for aerospace production, ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Compliance Assurance:
Guarantee that all materials conform to REACH regulations through diligent tracking, testing, and documentation of chemical substances.
Surface Treatment Oversight:
Manage the shift from chrome VI surface treatments to compliant alternatives, aiming to minimize production disruptions while upholding quality benchmarks.
Supplier Relations:
Develop and sustain partnerships with suppliers, negotiating terms and ensuring the timely supply of materials.
Record Keeping:
Maintain comprehensive records of materials, chemicals, and compliance documentation, ensuring accessibility and accuracy of data.
Collaborative Engagement:
Collaborate closely with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to meet material requirements and uphold compliance standards.
Risk Management:
Perform risk assessments related to chemical usage and materials, offering insights and recommendations for risk reduction.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years in materials procurement, buying, or consulting within the aerospace sector.
Knowledge:
Profound understanding of REACH regulations and their implications in the aerospace industry. Familiarity with surface treatments, especially the transition from chrome VI, is highly advantageous.
Skills:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Capacity to work autonomously and manage various priorities.
Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software.
