Administrative Support Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing administrative and support services to the All Wales Medical Genomics Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Genomics Service team, including processing and transmitting patient data, reports, and files using both paper and computerized systems.
- Ensure effective submission of patient reports within agreed turnaround times.
- Attend meetings, record minutes, and produce formal minutes as required.
- Perform reception duties, including receiving, opening, prioritizing, and distributing mail and deliveries.
- Handle telephone enquiries and respond accordingly, maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality at all times.
- Develop and maintain excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Prioritize and manage workload effectively, working collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals and wider colleagues in a dynamic environment.

Requirements
- A good standard of general education, with a minimum of 4 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent experience.
- Additional word processing/computer qualifications are desirable.
- Accurate and efficient typing skills.
- Prioritize and manage own workload.
- Excellent communication skills, including good telephone manner.
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Working in an office environment in a secretarial or administrative position is essential.
- Experience of working in the NHS is desirable.
