Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accredited Clinical Coder to join our team as a Team Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, complete, and consistent clinical coding within strict timescales.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Coding: Ensure accurate, timely, complete, and consistent clinical coding is carried out within strict timescales, using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications, and adhering to national coding standards and local clinical coding policies.
  2. Clinical Information Management: Collect, collate, and code clinical information, highly complex in nature, covering a wide range of specialties. This may involve coding highly sensitive and emotionally distressing patient medical records.
  3. Productivity and Quality: Maintain own productivity by ensuring high-quality work is done by required timescales.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with line managers where necessary to confirm appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear. Regularly liaise with and update managers and senior colleagues regarding deficiencies and ambiguity in clinical documentation to facilitate discussions with clinical teams and other departments.
  5. Data Quality: Raise data quality issues to the Coding Managers.
  6. Mentorship: Act as a mentor to Coders and Trainees/Apprentices within the department.
  7. Team Participation: Attend and participate in team meetings to ensure knowledge and learning points are received and communicated.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of consistently achieving key performance objectives and producing high-quality work to tight deadlines. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
