Location: Durham

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Durham. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting pupils with varied Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEN and challenging behavior on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Manage challenging behavior in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner
  • Build positive relationships with class teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required
  • Have a 'hands-on' approach to supporting pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage, and form a positive rapport with pupils

Requirements:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
  • A recognized Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 3 ideally, although Level 2 will also be considered)
  • Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant within schools in the UK
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfill their potential and flourish in education
