Service Advisor HGV Job Description

We are seeking a professional and experienced HGV Service Advisor to join our Commercial Service Team at Hunter Knight Recruitment Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, handling customer needs face-to-face and over the phone with a professional and friendly approach.
  • Manage Work in Progress (WIP) control for the workshop, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Schedule MOTs and services, keeping customers informed of vehicle progress and any potential delays.
  • Clarify repair requirements with customers and the workshop team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of work.
  • Promote additional workshop services and repairs, identifying opportunities to increase revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage customer accounts, checking credit levels, obtaining authorisation, and ordering parts as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism in the customer reception area, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.
  • Assist in the development of parts sales, working towards meeting relevant targets and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Cost completed work, raise invoices, and account for all cash, cheques, and other payments received.
  • Build strong relationships with all staff and customers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle history and service records, adhering to customer requirements and operator licence standards.
  • Ensure compliance with good health and safety practice, all statutory requirements, company policies, and standard procedures.
Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Proven organisational and administration skills, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical knowledge and analytical skills, including the ability to work with statistical and costing information.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
