We are a leading company in the industry, with a rich history of almost 100 years of experience. We are currently undergoing a transformation to support our growth aspirations, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Assistant to join our finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Reporting and Transactional Finance**: As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day transactional finance tasks, working closely with the finance team to ensure smooth operations.
  • **Ledger Management**: You will oversee the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and credit control, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • **Bank Reconciliations and Accruals**: Conduct daily bank reconciliations, log creditor payments, and ensure the accounts system matches the bank. You will also be responsible for month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany journals.
  • **Customer Account Reconciliation**: Conduct ad-hoc customer account reconciliations to handle discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records.
  • **Payroll Support**: Provide support to the payroll assistant, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll-related tasks.
  • **Financial Reporting**: Assist with month-end P&L Reports, VAT Reconciliation, CIS reporting, and Sub-contractor statements.
  • **Employee Benefits**: Administer employee benefit schemes, including pension uploads to the scheme provider and maintenance of company motor insurance portals.

Requirements

  • **Previous Experience**: Previous experience in a finance or accounting role with similar responsibilities is essential.
  • **Qualifications**: AAT qualification is advantageous, but not essential. QBE is also considered.
  • **Skills**: Exceptional attention to detail and precision in financial data entry and record-keeping. Strong organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • **Software Proficiency**: Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems, such as Sage.
  • **Analytical Skills**: Analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of account reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.
  • **Teamwork**: A proactive, collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
