Head of Harvesting Support

Job Summary

Forestry and Land Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our harvesting support team. As the Head of Harvesting Support, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and sustainable harvesting of timber from our national forests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and technical support to Regional Delivery teams to increase the efficiency of the FLS timber harvesting machinery fleet.
  • Work on emerging strategic initiatives, including the creation of a harvesting data repository and associated analysis.
  • Ensure that relevant service contracts are in place and that harvesting activities meet the requirements of FSC and PEFC certification.
  • Provide advice and support to staff regarding service contracts, timber sales contracts, and timber harvesting operations.

About the Role

This is a key position within our National Marketing and Sales Team, which is dedicated to supporting the harvesting, marketing, and sales of timber. The successful candidate will have experience in timber harvesting, associated timber sales, procurement, and contract management, as well as pre-felling timber crop surveys.
