Job Overview:
Are you seeking a fulfilling career that merges civilian and military firefighting? If you possess the bravery, skills, and dedication to serve both the Royal Air Force and the nation, this position as a Sponsored Reserve Firefighter may be ideal for you.
Role Responsibilities:
- As a Sponsored Reserve, you will be deployed internationally for four months, followed by a 16-month period stationed in the UK.
- Join the RAF Firefighter team, delivering essential Aerodrome & Rescue Firefighting services across the UK and abroad.
- Be prepared to respond to and combat fires within the UK, as well as perform rescues from military aircraft.
- Provide first response to emergencies on Defence properties and promote fire safety awareness among Station personnel.
- Support operations and exercises in potentially challenging environments during deployments.
- Receive training on specialized vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections and tests on specialized vehicles and equipment while enhancing your professional firefighting skills.
- Must be a UK or Republic of Ireland citizen, hold a dual nationality passport, or be a Commonwealth citizen from birth, with at least three years of residency in the UK.
- Minimum qualifications include Grade C or 4 to 5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent.
- A valid full driving license is required.
- Must meet fitness standards to complete initial and specialized training effectively, with varying requirements based on role, age, and gender.
- Health criteria must be satisfied, including Body Mass Index, eyesight, and any medical conditions that may affect entry into the RAF reserves.
- Willingness to undertake and pass Situational and Behavioral assessments during recruitment and complete all necessary background checks.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary for this role starts at £27,650 per annum, increasing to £31,106 per annum upon full training completion. Additional benefits include a £7,000 remuneration package for each deployment and a £1,500 Operational Training Supplement for meeting annual training obligations. Other perks include:
