The Role:
The Lead Storage Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical authority and escalation point for the implementation and maintenance of all facets of our clients' Storage and Virtualization technologies. In this capacity, you will address incidents, troubleshoot replication challenges, and oversee SAN and Virtualization hardware/software installations, upgrades, and data migrations.
This position requires daily interaction with high-profile clients in the financial sector, necessitating the utmost level of presentation, communication, and professionalism. Additionally, the Lead Storage Solutions Engineer must excel in multitasking within a dynamic environment and demonstrate a remarkable ability to swiftly learn and apply new technologies.
In this hybrid position, you will operate during US business hours and have the rewarding opportunity to collaborate with your ECI colleagues - days per week in an ECI office.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementation: Execute deployments and upgrades of storage and virtualization solutions (both production and disaster recovery) for new and existing clients. Update and deploy automation systems/scripts for storage and virtualization workflows. Maintenance: Monitor the performance, storage, and utilization of storage and virtualization systems, recommending enhancements based on findings. Collaborate with clients and service teams to review insights and recommendations, coordinating and scheduling remediation efforts. Maintain clients' production and disaster recovery environments, including testing and activation. Contribute to the knowledge base of support issues and resolutions. Troubleshooting: Assist in the recovery of clients' environments in the event of system failures or disasters. Investigate performance issues and bottlenecks within clients' storage and virtualization infrastructures. Provide Tier escalation support to the Client's Support Team to diagnose and resolve issues in client environments, coordinating with internal resources and vendors. Continuous Improvement: Engage in self-directed learning and improvement of Storage and Virtualization products. Research and adhere to both industry and ECI best practices, updating ECI standards as necessary. Document standards on the ECI WIKI and participate in scheduled Support and Product Team meetings.Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in computer science, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced knowledge and extensive experience in deploying and managing: NetApp ONTAP -mode/CDOT, EMC VNX/XtremIO, and other Enterprise Storage Solutions, VMware vSphere, Dell PowerEdge, and HP ProLiant Servers, as well as Data Backup and Recovery with Symantec Backup Exec or similar enterprise software. Comprehensive understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, server virtualization, client/server applications, disaster recovery, and business continuity. Experience in implementing and supporting Cisco-based Ethernet networks (Enterprise level) with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches. Solid understanding of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL Server. Familiarity with the financial industry, including knowledge of market vendor applications. Experience with Linux or Solaris operating systems. Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Batch, Bash).Product-Specific Requirements:
In-depth understanding of NetApp products and architectures, including ONTAP, Snap Drive, Snap Manager, Snap Mirror, and OnCommand. Comprehensive knowledge of VMware products and architectures, including vSphere and ESXi. Thorough understanding of Nimble and EMC storage solutions. Extensive knowledge of general storage technologies: iSCSI, FC, FCoE, CIFS/SMB, NFS. Prior experience or familiarity with alternative storage and virtualization products is advantageous.
