Job Summary:

The Storage & Virtualization Solutions Engineer is responsible for leading the implementation and maintenance of our clients' data infrastructure technology. This role involves supporting incidents, troubleshooting replication issues, SAN and Virtualization hardware/software installations/upgrades, and data migration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementation: Deploy and upgrade storage and virtualization solutions for new and existing clients, including automation systems and scripts for storage and virtualization workflows.
  • Maintenance: Monitor the performance, storage, and utilization of storage and virtualization, and recommend enhancements based on findings. Meet with clients and service teams to review findings and recommendations, and coordinate and schedule remediation work. Maintain clients' production and disaster recovery environments, including testing and turn-up.
  • Troubleshooting: Support the recovery of clients' environments in the event of system failure or disaster. Investigate performance issues and bottlenecks of clients' storage and virtualization infrastructure. Provide Tier escalation of clients' support teams to diagnose and resolve issues in clients' environments, coordinating with internal resources and vendors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in self-directed continuous improvement and learning of storage and virtualization products. Investigate and follow industry and ECI best practices, and update ECI standards. Document standards on the ECI knowledge base. Participate in scheduled support and product team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of and comprehensive experience in deploying and managing NetApp ONTAP, EMC VNX, XtremIO, and other enterprise storage solutions. VMware vSphere, Dell PowerEdge, and HP Proliant servers. Data backup and recovery with Symantec Backup Exec or similar enterprise software.
  • Thorough understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, and firewalls. Server virtualization, client/server applications, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Cisco-based Ethernet networks (enterprise level) with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL server.
  • Financial industry experience, including familiarity with market vendor applications.
  • Experience with Linux or Solaris.
  • Scripting knowledge with PowerShell.

Product Specific:

  • Thorough understanding of NetApp products and architectures, including ONTAP, SnapCentre, SnapMirror, and OnCmd.
  • Thorough understanding of VMware products and architectures, including vSphere and ESXi.
  • Thorough understanding of Nimble and EMC storage.
  • In-depth knowledge of general storage technologies, including iSCSI, FC, FCoE, CIFS/SMB, and NFS.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with alternative storage and virtualization products is desirable.
  • Prior experience with NIX operating systems or Oracle databases is desirable.
