Role Description

We are seeking two Senior Policy Advisors at the SEO level to join the Strategic Supply and Continuity Team. These positions present a unique opportunity to engage in a dynamic and often high-pressure environment within the Supply Resilience Directorate, contributing to a vital government initiative aimed at enhancing supply resilience for critical medical products.

Senior Policy Advisor - Supply Continuity

This role involves supporting both ongoing and new initiatives to identify significant risks and devise mitigation strategies against known supply threats. You will lead priority projects aimed at strengthening resilience across essential products, considering both national and international factors impacting supply stability.

Senior Policy Advisor - Strategic Supply Resilience

The individual in this position will assist in developing long-term strategic frameworks to improve resilience for critical products. This includes formulating manufacturing policies and fostering international collaborations to maintain a global perspective on supply resilience efforts. The role is integral to shaping policy on a key government priority.

In both positions, you will have the chance to enhance your skills in policy formulation, project management, operational execution, and stakeholder engagement. Our teams prioritize flexibility, ensuring that individuals are challenged with ambitious objectives and diverse responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex policy initiatives related to cross-cutting supply resilience threats and formulate resilience strategies across various policy interventions.
  • Support strategic objectives concerning national security and international implications for supply chains, collaborating with the team to develop strategies that align with the UK's broader supply resilience goals.
  • Influence government-wide initiatives on supply chains to ensure health supply considerations are prioritized, including drafting policy documents and briefings for senior leadership meetings.
  • Execute priority projects that align with the Directorate's strategic goals, working collaboratively with colleagues across the department and governmental bodies.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry representatives, to inform policy and decision-making processes.
  • Contribute to the drafting of submissions, briefings, and communications for senior leaders and other policy teams.
  • Facilitate international engagement on supply resilience to ensure health supply chains are included in broader discussions and to advance the UK's strategic objectives.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in policy and strategy development, with the ability to navigate complex issues and assess risks effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying intricate and sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management capabilities, comfortable handling multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results promptly.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player, eager to support and work alongside colleagues from various backgrounds.

Your primary workplace will be your designated contractual location, typically either London or Leeds. DHSC offers a flexible working environment, with an expectation of at least 60% of your working hours spent in the office to promote collaboration and teamwork.
