The Podiatry Service is evolving, with new opportunities arising to address the increasing demands of our community. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in implementing new care models that cater to the needs of our patients.

  • Actively engage in the rotational programs for Podiatry at Band 6.
  • Independently assess and diagnose patients with a variety of medical and podiatric conditions, utilizing appropriate diagnostic methods and tools. This includes sharp debridement of lesions, administering local anaesthesia while adhering to safe dosage guidelines, performing nail surgery, and applying noxious caustics.
  • Develop and implement customized treatment and care plans using diverse treatment modalities for various patient demographics, particularly those categorized as high-risk.
  • Recommend a limited selection of prescription medications as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: oBSc Degree in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent qualification (for those qualified prior to 1991)
  • Essential: Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Essential: Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Essential: Certification in local anaesthesia
Desirable Qualifications
  • Evidence of postgraduate training in a specialized area of podiatry
Experience Requirements
  • Essential: Postgraduate clinical experience in multidisciplinary and interagency collaboration
  • Essential: Experience with a diverse range of patients and pathologies, including high-risk foot conditions
  • Essential: Experience as part of a specialized team (clinical rotation experience accepted)
Skills and Knowledge
  • Essential: Knowledge of recent advancements in podiatry
  • Essential: Comprehensive understanding of podiatric theory and practice
  • Essential: Familiarity with foot orthotic design and manufacturing
  • Essential: Knowledge of the Code of Conduct
  • Essential: Awareness of Equal Opportunities in theory and practice
  • Essential: Understanding of Clinical Governance principles
  • Essential: Knowledge of treatment options for managing high-risk tissue breakdown
  • Essential: Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment advancements
  • Essential: Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively engage with patients and caregivers
  • Essential: Ability to assess patient concerns and propose effective solutions
  • Essential: Competence in using diagnostic tools and surgical instruments for intricate procedures
  • Essential: Proficient IT skills, including internet and word processing applications

  • Capability to perform clinical treatments in physically constrained positions requiring fine motor skills

  • Flexibility to adapt to diverse working environments and handle challenging situations, including wound care
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
