Job Summary:

The Head of Delivery and Operations will lead the cross-portfolio delivery team for the Product Delivery and Operations area of Product and Platforms, which is part of the Digital sub-directorate of the Transformation directorate of NHS England.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership for cross-portfolio delivery of initiatives that involve more than one product portfolio, ensuring alignment with the Mobile First strategy and other cross-cutting initiatives.
  2. Develop and Maintain a Shared Roadmap: Build and maintain a shared roadmap for delivery of cross-cutting initiatives, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed.
  3. Ensure Alignment and Coordination: Work across delivery teams to ensure alignment between Product and Platforms delivery expectations, supporting Mobile First and other cross-cutting initiatives.
  4. Manage Dependencies, Risks, and Issues: Manage dependencies, risks, and issues for cross-portfolio delivery, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of and working towards common goals.
  5. Optimize Resource Allocation: Ensure that available funding is maximized across different portfolio workstreams for optimal delivery, aligning with the NHS England board's purpose to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all.
  6. Represent the Organization: Represent the Deputy Director of Product Delivery and Operations at delivery meetings in NHSE, ensuring that the organization's interests are represented and aligned with the overall strategy.

Key Relationships:

The Head of Delivery and Operations will have key relationships with senior leaders across Product and Platforms, including Executive Director, Core SLT, and Product/Delivery leaders, as well as with external partners such as the Chief Information Officer's Office, HR, Commercial, and Finance business partners.

Requirements:

  1. Leadership and Strategic Thinking: The ability to provide strategic leadership and think critically about complex cross-portfolio delivery initiatives.
  2. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization.
  3. Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage dependencies, risks, and issues for cross-portfolio delivery.
  4. Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business operations and the ability to optimize resource allocation for optimal delivery.
