The Associated Press is a renowned global news organization committed to accurate reporting. We are in search of a skilled news producer with a proven history of compelling video storytelling to contribute to our worldwide daily video output, based in London. In this position, you will collaborate closely with the video production team and engage with AP staff globally across different formats to create captivating journalism that meets our audience's needs and expands AP's reach.

Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the production lead, you will play a vital role in creating our digital video content utilized by AP clients who depend on us for comprehensive coverage of global stories. Your tasks will include creatively editing story components to craft impactful visual narratives for a digital audience; exercising sound news judgment in editorial choices; and efficiently writing relevant storylines and shot lists. You will be expected to edit urgent news videos from live feeds under tight deadlines. Additionally, the role involves leveraging social media as a tool for news gathering, with a familiarity in visual verification techniques being advantageous. Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends is essential, as AP operates around the clock.

We are looking for candidates who:

Have a strong passion for global news, showcasing excellent news judgment and innovative storytelling abilities that resonate with digital audiences. You can effectively communicate and promote stories that engage viewers on social media and other platforms. Excel in high-pressure news environments with a proven track record of meeting deadlines. Possess strong writing capabilities in English, with the skill to articulate visual narratives clearly and concisely. Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of journalists at AP, who operate across various formats: text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive, and graphics. Seek out innovative and inclusive coverage methods while consistently upholding AP's standards for integrity and impartiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced production and technical editing skills using Adobe Premiere or similar software. Familiarity with Adobe After Effects is a plus. Strong organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple projects across formats and achieving success on complex storylines. Experience collaborating with developers, external clients, and partners is advantageous.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, such as a minimum of three years of full-time work at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk. Authorization to work will be mandatory. Advanced-level professional proficiency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in an additional language is a plus. Advanced-level professional competency in non-linear video editing is required.
