PRIVATE EQUITY PORTFOLIO ANALYST

Maven Capital Partners is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to support our London/South division. This position will report directly to the Portfolio Director.

The primary objective of this role is to assist the senior portfolio management team in enhancing value within the private equity investment portfolio. This includes monitoring growth trajectories and cash flow requirements against established plans, conducting thorough analyses, and preparing comprehensive reports for the investment committee to assess progress. The successful candidate will collaborate with the portfolio team to provide strategic support and guidance to the management teams of investee companies, critically evaluating strategies, aiding in the execution of value enhancement plans, and leveraging professional networks as necessary to maximize shareholder value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the portfolio management process by attending board meetings of investee companies and engaging with management teams to offer strategic insights and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain regular communication with portfolio companies to ensure timely provision of necessary information.
  • Assist in the management of investee businesses to comprehend the dynamics of growth, including the analysis of financial statements and board presentations.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed and insightful monthly and quarterly performance updates for individual and consolidated businesses within the portfolio.
  • Update the fund administration system with monthly financial performance data and quarterly valuation metrics for investee companies.
  • Assist in drafting proposals for the investment committee regarding follow-on funding or modifications to investment terms.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the line manager or leadership team that align with the role's objectives.
  • Adhere to and promote all organizational policies, including those related to Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research new industry sectors, assimilate information quickly, and draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Proficient in Excel modeling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player capable of working effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong relationship management skills, enabling effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resilient and resourceful in addressing challenges faced by investee businesses.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Business acumen, with an understanding of the commercial environment in which businesses operate and a professional demeanor when interacting with investee companies.
  • A degree in a relevant quantitative discipline.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession or pursuit of a professional accountancy or investment-related qualification.
