The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle Upon Tyne. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement tailored support plans for students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' specific needs.
- Foster a safe and nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Monitor and document students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students' social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and skill-building activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective support strategies with colleagues.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their social, emotional, and mental health.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of learners.
- Creativity and adaptability to design and implement effective support strategies.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning.
