Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Elderly Medicine to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a large district general hospital covering a wide range of acute services, including an active renal unit, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, and more.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain high-quality patient-centered care
  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of the service and participate in strategic planning
  • Teach and train within the multidisciplinary service
  • Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
  • Participate in continuing medical education

The successful candidate will be responsible for 15 inpatient beds on a general elderly care ward and will have the opportunity to develop subspecialty interests. We are committed to innovation and are looking to develop our outpatient offering to adapt to the changing needs of our population.

Person Specification
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Postgraduate academic degree
  • Participation in research and published papers in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to critically appraise published evidence
  • Up-to-date and fit to practice safely, with awareness of own training needs
