About the Role

South Uttlesford Primary Care Network is seeking a self-motivated and forward-thinking Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) / Paramedic to provide dedicated support to our 4 general practices and local population. This part-time opportunity is offered for 18 hours per week, over 2 days, for a 2-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of further extension.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, providing a holistic approach, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services.
  • Collaborate closely with a wider multi-disciplinary PCN workforce, including pharmacists and social prescribers.
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients, promoting self-care and empowering them to make informed choices about their treatment.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.
About the Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)/Paramedic seeking a new challenge. Previous primary care experience is not essential, and we welcome applications from those working in other settings.

Essential Requirements
  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
  • Advanced level Clinical Assessment, Reasoning & Clinical Decision Making.
  • Advanced clinical practical skills.
  • Post-registration experience in at least two of the following: GP/Minor illness, walk-in centre, A&E, GP out-of-hours, or the ambulance service.
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat, and refer patients.
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently.
  • Experience of working to protocols and guidelines.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work flexibly in core hours to meet the needs of the service.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience of working within a primary care setting.
  • Working towards advanced clinical practitioner status.
  • Mentorship or supervisory skills training.
