Job Title: Clinical/Counselling Psychologist - Older Adults

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team in Oxford. As a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological assessment and intervention for adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to older adults with mental health difficulties. You will be responsible for delivering the systematic provision of a high-quality, highly specialist clinical/counselling psychology service to older adults with severe and/or complex mental health disorders and/or Dementia served by the Oxfordshire Older Adult Mental Health Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment and intervention for older adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting.
  • Supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and other clinical members of the team.
  • Work as part of the inpatient team providing advice and guidance to colleagues as well as to social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs.
  • Provide indirect support to Inpatient staff within in the Older Adult Inpatients services.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local policies and procedures.
  • Exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Older Adult inpatient wards.
Requirements
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology, or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996, as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • HCPC registration or BABCP accreditation.
  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
  • Accreditation with accrediting body such as BABCP, ACAT or SfDBT.
