About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manual Handling Specialist to join our team at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Patient Safety and Risk Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe handling of patients and staff across our hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver robust, fit-for-purpose manual handling training programs across the Trust, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to establish and maintain a culture of safe working practices, providing guidance and support to staff at all levels.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending remedial actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
  • Produce policies, procedures, and communications to assist Trust management and staff in complying with Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Learning and Development team to ensure manual handling training is fit for purpose and reflects current best practice and industry standards.
Requirements
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or nursing, with suitable relevant experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in manual handling.
  • NVQ/QCA level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS).
  • Substantial experience of delivering manual/patient handling training to a range of audiences, preferably in an acute NHS environment.
  • Commitment to personal learning and development.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current manual handling risk management and associated legislation in relation to NHS environments.
