About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Controls Specialist to join our Property team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of risks across the Property function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, challenge, and report risks in line with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and other business policies.
  • Liaise with Senior Managers to identify risks, propose control measures, and ensure resolution of actions within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure adherence to internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Support the Manager – Property Support in managing departmental financial processes, including prompt processing of invoices, purchase orders, payments, accruals, and financial receipting/balancing.
Requirements
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to review data and identify issues requiring follow-up, escalation, and root cause analysis.
  • Good understanding or experience of managing risks and controls, ideally with a background in the regulatory environment surrounding financial services or property/premises.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Natural inquisitiveness, attention to detail, high level of accuracy, methodical approach, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management, persuading, and influencing skills with the ability to present conclusions verbally and in writing to a high standard.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
