Depot Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Depot Manager to lead and optimize the operations at our depot and transfer station. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and operator licenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in operational productivity and service quality.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of approximately 40 staff members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Focus: Collaborate with customers to deliver exceptional service and maintain strong relationships.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the depot's profit and loss budget, ensuring consistent year-on-year growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the depot's strategic direction and implement new practices to drive business growth.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: Solid background as an Operations/Depot/General Manager or in a similar high-responsibility role within services or logistics.
  • CPC Qualification: Essential for managing compliance and operational standards.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience in people management and health & safety within a unionized, multi-shift environment.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of current and upcoming environmental and health & safety regulations.
