Job Overview

Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking an experienced Pharmacist to join our dynamic team. As a Band 7 Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting our services in the Dispensary and Operational team.

The successful candidate will assist the Clinical Lead Operational Pharmacist in the clinical aspects of the Dispensary, Procurement, and Distribution. You will also be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior pharmacists rotating through the Dispensary.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a role model to all technical and support staff working in the Dispensary Team.
  • Clinically screen TTOs and Outpatient prescriptions as required.
  • Develop the role of the rotational Pharmacists in the dispensary.
  • Ensure the dispensary's compliance with best practice and medicines legislation.
  • Ensure the safe and secure management of controlled drugs in the Dispensary.
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, Bank Holiday, and late duties as per the rota.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Taught Masters Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Independent Prescriber qualification.
  • Educational supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing a clinical service and dispensary experience, as well as training, mentoring, and supervising staff. They will also have knowledge of current issues, up-to-date pharmacy knowledge, and awareness of paediatric medicine.

The successful candidate will possess excellent IT and database skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
