Position Overview

This role is centered on our EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) Aviation division, focusing on the promotion and sales of Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) and Ni-Cd batteries to both military and commercial clients. The position plays a crucial role in shaping the future of global transportation through innovative battery technologies.

We seek a passionate and reliable Aviation Sales Manager who thrives in a dynamic sales leadership environment. This role involves the daily oversight of the Aviation business, ensuring optimal pricing and margins for all products. Candidates should possess experience in an international context and the ability to engage with customers at various seniority levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Ni-Cd and Lead Acid Aviation batteries (Military and Commercial Aviation) across the EMEA & APAC regions.
  • Ensure compliance with the EAS Aerospace Commercial Gating and Approval process, including managing national export control compliance.
  • Identify and convert new sales leads and opportunities into orders.
  • Foster business development and growth within the narrow-body commercial aviation market.
  • Manage key accounts effectively.
  • Oversee the profitability of the EAS ROW Aviation segment, focusing on Gross Margin and Operating Earnings.
  • Report on the EAS ROW Aviation segment KPIs.
  • Collaborate with EAS Product Managers and Technical Support to provide technical sales solutions.
  • Engage and develop new customers to establish long-term sustainable key accounts.
  • Work in tandem with EAS & STG colleagues across Lines of Business (LOB) to enhance customer value in the aviation sector.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with existing and prospective customers, particularly in Business Development for Li-Ion capabilities in the commercial aviation sector (UAV/UAM).
  • Attend industry events such as airshows and exhibitions to promote EnerSys.
  • Ensure all activities align with EnerSys's relevant rules, regulations, and governance standards.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant field with experience in the aviation sector.
  • A business qualification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in business English is essential; fluency in an additional language is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with battery applications and chemistry is preferred.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in the commercial aviation regulatory landscape, with a solid understanding of DOA & POA requirements.
  • Proven track record of working across diverse geographical regions with strong cultural awareness.
  • Exceptional influencing skills and the technical acumen to navigate complex sales environments, utilizing concepts such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • A natural influencer who is adept at engaging with customers on the move.
  • Prior sales experience in the Aviation market segment is essential.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Commercial Aviation Regulatory environment.
  • Ability to prepare quotations and detailed tender/RFQ responses.
  • Management of technical product questionnaire completion.
  • Understanding of commercial contract terms and price management.
  • Liaison with the Shared Service Centre (SSC) to ensure exceptional customer support.
  • Provide commercial and after-sales support as necessary.
