About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Wells & Co Managed. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards and that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Production: Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of food, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Stock Control: Work closely with the Head Chef to effectively control stock levels, identify opportunities to maximize profitability, and ensure that food costs are managed effectively.
  • Team Management: Assist the Head Chef in the recruitment, training, and development of the kitchen team, ensuring that they are equipped to deliver excellent food quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that the kitchen is maintained to the highest standards of health and safety, and that all team members are aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Inventory Management: Assist the Head Chef in the management of inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing of ingredients and supplies.
  • Menu Development: Assist the Head Chef in the development of new menu ideas and dishes, ensuring that they are innovative, exciting, and meet the needs of our guests.

Requirements:

  • Experience: A minimum of 18 months' experience as a Sous Chef in a busy food operation, with a proven track record of delivering excellent food quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to deliver excellent results.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with the Head Chef, other kitchen staff, and front-of-house team.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
