About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Wells & Co Managed. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards and that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in controlling stock and food costs, and identify opportunities to maximize profitability.
  • Oversee all food production, ensuring that food is prepared to an exemplary standard and that high levels of food safety and hygiene are maintained.
  • Be responsible for the recruitment, training, coaching, and development of the kitchen team, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver excellent food quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure that the kitchen is running efficiently and effectively, and that all team members are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Monitor and control food and labor costs, ensuring that they are within budget and that the kitchen is operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas and concepts, working closely with the Head Chef and other members of the culinary team.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, and that all team members are aware of their responsibilities in this regard.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of kitchen operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 months experience as a Sous Chef in a busy food operation, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders.
