Position Overview
Are you interested in joining a progressive Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service? The Integrated Musculoskeletal, Pain and Rheumatology Service (IMPReS) operates within a broad geographical area, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes and prioritizing care.
We invite applications from qualified HCPC registered physiotherapists who are enthusiastic about MSK physiotherapy to join our dedicated team.
This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your clinical and leadership capabilities. As our services are provided across various locations, you will collaborate with diverse members of the IMPReS team to broaden your expertise. Initially, this position will be based at a designated site, with flexibility required to meet service demands.
We provide weekly specialized patient clinics to assist in patient management, along with regular supervision and dedicated development time. Our aim is to foster compassionate leadership at all levels and to value the contributions of all staff in our continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a Band 6 MSK physiotherapy role.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients, establish mutually agreed goals, deliver expert treatments, and educate patients and caregivers to ensure safe and timely discharges.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive patient treatment records in accordance with professional standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior healthcare professionals, including students.
- Act as a deputy for Band 7 physiotherapists when necessary.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and maintain a portfolio reflecting personal growth.
- Engage in service enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures, including Health and Safety, confidentiality, and data protection regulations.

Job Responsibilities
- Maintain professional accountability for all aspects of your work, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, utilizing advanced clinical reasoning and manual techniques for accurate diagnosis.
- Develop and implement individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Assume delegated responsibilities from Band 7 physiotherapists for managing specific patient conditions.
- Ensure effective selection and utilization of treatment resources.
- Oversee the safe use of equipment and provide training to others.
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Manage clinical risks within your patient caseload.
- Adhere to Trust clinical guidelines and monitor quality of practice.
- Supervise junior physiotherapists and assistants in maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate complex clinical information effectively to patients and caregivers.
- Document assessments and treatment results in compliance with legal and departmental standards.
- Assess patient capacity and obtain informed consent as required.
- Engage in regular evaluation of clinical practices through audits and feedback.
Qualifications
Essential
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy.
- HCPC Registration.
- Access to personal transport for work-related purposes.
Desirable
- Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
- Completion of Clinical Educators course.
- Relevant postgraduate clinical courses related to specialty.
Experience
Essential
- Experience in core rotations including medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, and neurology.
- Knowledge of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
- Experience in multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration.
- Contributions to the clinical development of less experienced staff.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records in line with national standards.
- Effective presentation skills, both written and oral.
- Aware of NHS developments and service delivery.
- Demonstrates IT literacy.
- Ability to manage stress and work with challenging patients.
- Experience in NHS MSK settings.
Desirable
- Involvement in special interest groups.
